Its never too late
During my days at the shs, whenever our inter-house athletic competition was about to start, thats when you hear all sort of things. Like “Shadow” as we used to call our best long distance runner will definitely win all the long distance events, “Bukatee” is also going to win every short distance events.
All these judgements were based on the fact that they had the ability to run at a constant speed and had a very good start respectively.
I monitored and practiced to be perfect on these abilities in other to become the best when my time come. I reached my final year and this was it for me to produce what i had been practicing for about two years in order for my house to be awarded a respected position.
There i was wearing my house’s running kit, very confident waiting for the whistle to be blown so i could show them what was really made of.
Peeeee, and when i knew that i had gotten my start very well, they called us back to disqualify one of the athletes for violating a rule by starting before the whistle was blown.
We lined up again and this time also, i had a very perfect start but i was the fourth to cross the finish line. What a shame, i said to mself. I promised my colleagues that i was going to be first in the long distance event and that one too i maintained the speed rate i started the race with until i crossed the finish line which earned a point for my house. That means i was the 8th person to cross the line.
That was when i realized that you don’t have to start first or keep a constant speed before you can achieve your aim or reach your destination. What i want to bring to your attention is that, no matter how late you start something you will definitely finish and no matter how inconsistent the path to your destination may be you will definitely finish. So don’t get discouraged about how late you started to pursue something, how inconsistent your path to the destination have been, how long your destination is, considering where you are starting from, how those perceived to be capable failed to reach that destination even with all the resources at their disposal.
Every long journey becomes short whenever a step is made, so why don’t you consider making three steps and see how short the so called long journey will be. Nobody have ever reached your destination by flying, they all made the first step. Challenge yourself and make your first move today.
You never gain experience about something without making a move about that thing. Failure is always the second bridge to success. Its up to you to cross the bridge or quit. And quitters never win.
Shalom
